Be Prepared For Your Motorcycle Road Trip
If you're heading on a long motorcycle trip, you need to be prepared. You'll be outside in the elements for hours at a time. The last thing you want to happen is not having what you need if things go wrong. That's why we have compiled a list of 20 must-have items for your motorcycle journey so that you're ready for anything!

1. Helmet
Make sure you have your helmet with you. The last thing you want is to get in an accident. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. A high-quality helmet will save your life.

2. Riding Jacket
Grab a quality riding jacket that can protect you against all weather conditions, especially the cold wind and debris. Some even come with a bit of armor to help with any skidding or scraping, just in case you fall.

3. Gloves
Make sure to wear some riding gloves for your long journey. They will keep your hands warm, give you a good grip, and stop them from getting torn to bits in a worst-case scenario.

4. Boots
Get a pair of high-quality boots that are sturdy and protect you from the elements. Waterproof and steel-reinforced boots that are built for motorcycles will make a huge difference in your comfort and safety while riding.

5. Riding Pants
Get yourself a pair of riding pants that have armor and weather protection. Your legs will take a large brunt of any fall, so the pants need to be extra durable to minimize any chance of you getting scrapped up badly.

6. Rain Gear
You are at the mercy of Mother Nature on a motorcycle. Pack some rain gear so you stay dry and warm in even the worst conditions. If the weather gets that bad, however, you may be better off pulling off to the side of the road and waiting it out.

7. First Aid Kit
Always have a first aid kit with you. You never know what can happen, so it’s best to be prepared in a worst-case situation. Double-check it before the trip to make sure you’ve got all the essentials.

8. Tool Kit
It is always wise to have a tool kit with you in case your bike ever breaks down. Hopefully, it’s a small problem that can be fixed. Otherwise, you’ll be hanging out on the side of the road waiting for help.
9. Spare Key
Bring a spare key with you. If you ever lose it or it somehow gets stolen, it will be tough to drive your bike without one. Keep it in a safe place where there is no way to lose both.

While most phones have GPS on them these days, you never know how good your service will be out in the middle of nowhere. Have a physical map with you as a reliable backup just in case, and always know where you're traveling ahead of time.

11. Water Bottle Or Backpack
Make sure you have a big water bottle or even a water backpack to keep you hydrated. On long rides, you never know where the next convenient stop will be. If you’re prepared you won't have to detour out of the way just for a drink.

12. Earplugs
Long bike rides are loud. You’ve got both your bike and the wind blowing in your ears. Earplugs will make the journey far more enjoyable, and allow you to appreciate your surroundings more easily.
13. Sunglasses/Goggles
While many bike helmets have face shields if they don't you'll want to make sure you have goggles. You’ve got to keep your eyes safe from the elements. Especially because you’re going to be outside driving a fast speeds all day long.

14. Portable Charger
Always have a portable charger with you. You never know when your phone or GPS may die. If you’re in an emergency, you’ll thank yourself for having the backup to get you out of the situation.

15. Quality Luggage
For long rides, you’ll need bags for all of your stuff. Many high-quality saddlebags will hold steady and keep your gear safe. A quality bag is worth the money.

16. Snacks
You never know when you’ll be hungry, and when you’ll be passing somewhere to stop. Bring a bunch of snacks to tie you over in the meantime. They are convenient, delicious, and will get you over the hump to the next meal.

17. Personal Identification
Make sure you have all your proper identifications. You’ll need your driver’s license, insurance, passport, and other documents depending on where you’re traveling. You’ll need them for emergencies or if you ever get pulled over. Double check you have them before you leave.
18. Multi-Tool
A multi-tool is a quick and easy option for minor repairs. You never know when you’re going to need a knife or screwdriver, they can always come in handy.
