Money Doesn’t Always Buy Taste
There’s no telling what celebrities will do with silly amounts of money—sometimes they buy crazy homes, sometimes it’s clothes, but a lot of the time it’s cars. From hideous wraps to some of the rarest models in the world, here are the craziest vehicles the biggest names ever owned.
1. Tango T600, George Clooney
You wouldn’t expect a certified cool guy like George Clooney to own such a goofy-looking car, but here we are. In fact, he was one of the first people to buy it at all. the Tango T600 was an odd little EV that never really went anywhere with consumers; it’s only 8.5 feet long and is technically street-safe, but only Batman found it cool.
2. Rolls Royce Phantom VII, Snoop Dogg
We know Snoop Dogg is cool, we know Rolls Royce’s are cool, so what else can we expect when worlds collide? With a six-speed automatic transmission and 454 horsepower, this car tops out at 150 mph, taking you from 0-60 in about six seconds. It looks incredible and is easily the most expensive vehicle in his collection.
3. Lamborghini Aventador, Nicki Minaj
We’ve talked about some interesting vehicles and some incredible ones, but Nicki Minaj ruined all hope for either when she wrecked her Aventador. This stunning sports car never stood a chance after the popular rapper painted it and its wheels Barbie pink to match her other vehicles. She’s certainly not the only one to wreck a gorgeous car but we don't forgive Paris Hilton either.
4. Will.i.am’s Custom Beetle
Forget everything you thought you knew about a 1958 VW Beetle because Will.i.am spent almost one million dollars customizing his in 2009. Between constant changes and Will.i.am’s…interesting vision, that poor classic was built into an unrecognizable monstrosity.
5. Messerschmitt KR200, Elvis Presley
Classic celebrities had their fair share of impressive cars, too! Presley’s Messerschmitt KR200 was a three-wheeled bubble car that was in production for nearly ten years. It had tandem seating and a steering wheel like an aircraft, so you can’t say it wasn’t unique.
6. Ecojet, Jay Leno
Of all the petrolheads out there, Jay Leno usually comes out on top. A man of style and incredible wheels, his collection boasts rides like no other, including his concept for the EcoJet. It’s strange in all the right ways—it was made by GM and his team of private mechanics, runs on bio-diesel, and tops out around 150 mph.
7. Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, Deadmau5
This Ferrari isn’t strange, but what Deadmau5 did with it sure is. So strange, in fact, that he actually got slapped with a lawsuit by the company and was forced to sell his car. Not only did he put a hideous Nyan Cat wrap over it (and dub it the Purrari), but he also tried to sell it on Craigslist before the company caught wind.
8. Bugatti Veyron, Flo Rida
You’re going to turn some heads when you wrap a stunner like the Bugatti Veyron in chrome gold. Then again, this car can turn heads all on its own—with top speeds of 253 mph, it’s one of the fastest street-legal vehicles out there. Top Gear once even named it Car of the Year.
9. Hennessey Venom GT, Steven Tyler
More than its sleek look, the Hennessey Venom GT is a rare set of wheels. It not only costs about two million dollars, but this limited-edition sports car is also the world's fastest manual transmission car. You can’t just go out and buy it either; only about 25 were ever made.
10. Tesla Model X, Jojo Siwa
Say what you want about Tesla but we’re actually not talking about the models themselves. No, we’re talking about the insane wrap Jojo Siwa put over Model X. You’ll always know when she’s cruising down the street because her vehicle is wrapped with photos of her head.
11. Lamborghini Gallardo V10, Chris Brown
Another Lambo, another crazy paint job. While we can almost see the appeal in the nostalgic decision, painting a gorgeous Gallardo like a Hot Wheels model is…interesting. Apparently, we aren't meant to won’t worry about all the power and speed, we're just supposed to take a trip down Memory Lane.
12. Audi R8, Justin Bieber
There’s nothing inherently bad about the Audi R8. This sleek sports car comes with a V10 engine, hits 0-60 in three seconds, and a stunning interior. The same can’t be said for Bieber’s exterior, however, as he wrapped his entire model in a tacky leopard print.
13. 1999 Plymouth Prowler, Dwayne Johnson
People have a lot to say about the Prowler—some say it boasts a timeless design while others think it sports a hideous look. However you see it, there’s no denying the appeal of a retro sports car that looks like the Batmobile and a hot rod had a baby.
14. 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, Ralph Lauren
With less than three surviving models, you’d have to be a big name to own this Bugatti, and Ralph Lauren is a big name. It was one of only four models made and considered one of the rarest vehicles out there. To top it all off, this classic car’s estimated value is a whopping $100 million.
15. Iron Fist, James Hetfield
Okay, okay, it’s not actually called the Iron Fist. It’s still an exciting set of wheels, though. Metallica vocalist James Hetfield owns an incredible 1936 Ford Coupe, customized with a stainless steel look, lowered suspension, and a 350 Chevy V-8 engine. It’s as timeless as it is cool.
16. 1969 Porsche 917K, Jerry Seinfeld
Oh, you thought Jay Leno had an impressive car collection? Jerry Seinfeld has his fair share of wheels, especially his Porsche collection, and one particularly notable vehicle is the very one Steve McQueen drove in Le Mans. As iconic as it is, Seinfeld ultimately decided to sell it after owning it for almost 20 years.
17. Range Rover, Kim Kardashian
Range Rovers catch enough flack. Motorists often complain about their problems and their expenses and their gas-guzzling. Yet, no one but Kim K thought of the ultimate way to make it worse—she had hers wrapped in black velvet.
18. Lamborghini Aventador, Lebron James
Another Aventador bites the dust, this time thanks to Lebron James’ bizarre floral wrap. Though maybe Nike is to blame for this too since they gifted him the vehicle after their collab. Either way, it’s a gaudy customized car that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and ruins a perfectly beautiful sports car.
19. 1994 Dodge Viper, Hulk Hogan
We hope ketchup red and mustard yellow makes you think of Hulk Hogan! Just in case they didn’t, the wrestling star also painted one his cars with the same color scheme, a 1994 Dodge Viper that caught just about everyone’s attention. He owned it for a good decade before selling it at the 2020 Kissimmee auction for charity.
20. 1911 Christie Fire Engine, Jay Leno
Only could Jay Leno sport a completely crazy addition to his collection: a 1911 fire engine. Complete with exposed gears and a 20-liter four-cylinder engine, Leno donated this little pop of history to the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum.
